MBBS/BDS Class 2000 donates to UCH.
In response to an appeal by the Hospital management for support in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan MBBS/BDS graduating set of 2000 yesterday donated items worth millions of naira towards the management of the pandemic.
While presenting the items to the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo on behalf of the set, Dr. Sesan Oluwasola, a Consultant in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology, said: “This is our contribution to support our Alma Mata in the fight against the COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. We are concerned about the welfare of the workers who are at the forefront of the battle against COVID 19”.
Prof. Otegbayo who was ecstatic about the gesture lauded the set for giving back to the Hospital in this period of dire need. He noted that the donation which includes 2,600 yards of personal protective equipment PPE materials, 20packs of ready-made disposable PPE gowns and 40 pulse oximeters, is the largest the Hospital has received since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He, therefore, affirmed that the items will be put to good use in the prevention, control and management of the COVID-19 virus and other infectious diseases.
Similarly, in commemoration of her fifth year anniversary, a non-profit charitable group, Doctors’ Timeout Family (DTOF), has also donated surgical face masks, bleach, surgical gloves and hand sanitizers to the Hospital.
Founder and CEO of the group, Dr. Anthony Ude presented the items to the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo who on behalf of the management applauded the kind gesture.
The Chairman (MAC) of the hospital, Dr. Victor Akinmoladun who was on hand to receive the items alongside the Chief Medical Director, said: “every donation the hospital receives is considered major in the execution of the battle, this will no doubt enhance our fight against the novel coronavirus.”
As at the close of business on Wednesday, 17th June 2020, there are no new cases of the COVID 19 in the hospital.
The University College Hospital, Ibadan will continue to play the leading role in combating the spread of the coronavirus and has upscaled her effort to render excellent care and services to all her patients. The Hospital equally enjoins everyone to adhere to the required infection prevention and control measures prescribed by the WHO and the NCDC, such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers & face masks.
