PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, 2nd June 2020.
The Chief Medical Director, (CMD), Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo has restated his commitment to curtail the spread of any infection in the Hospital even after the coronavirus pandemic has eased out.
Prof. Otegbayo stated this yesterday while launching the motorized modular fumigator donated to the Hospital by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II. He said “apart from COVID-19 disinfection, the fumigator will be useful for other purposes such as the spraying of insecticides and herbicides.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Otegbayo has formally handed over the painting of the Hospital’s wards to the contractor handling the project.
While speaking during the handing over, he said “the painting of the wards with mosquito repellent paints was awarded as part of efforts to give the Hospital a face lift and to provide a conducive ambience for both staff and patients.” He added that apart from improving on services and providing equipment and consumables, the physical structure of the Hospital will also be given attention.
Though the painting is part of the Federal Government approved 2019 capital project, Prof. Otegbayo pointed out that he was able to secure it through the good rapport he has built with relevant agencies of Government, adding that more of such will come to the Hospital in due course.
As at the close of business on Monday, 1st June 2020, the hospital has kept faith to high hygiene standards and did not have new case of COVID-19.
The University College Hospital, Ibadan has been playing the leading role in combating the spread of the coronavirus, and will continue to render excellent care and services to all our patients. The Hospital equally enjoins everyone to adhere to the required infection prevention and control measures prescribed by the WHO and the NCDC, such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers & face masks. We will continue to update the public accordingly.
