Update on Diagnosed Cases of COVID-19 in the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
The hospital has taken a bold step towards subduing the COVID-19 pandemic, when she launched the customized face masks which would be distributed for the benefit of both staff and other members of the hospital community. This is in line with the directive of the Federal Government which mandates everyone to put on a face mask outside their respective homes.
The Chief Medical Director, Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo while launching the face masks pointed out that it had become imperative for the management to ensure that staff as well as patients and visitors to the hospital are well protected against the deadly disease and other infections. He said every member of staff will be given a face mask each while some other protective equipment will soon be made and distributed to frontline officers and those in the critical areas of operations.
In a similar development, the College of Medicine/University College Hospital MBBS/BDS Class of 98 (North America Chapter), donated 40 packs of 50 pieces of Surgical facemasks in support of the efforts of the Hospital in managing patients with COVID-19 and for the protection of the health care workers of the Institution. The CMD commended the donors for their kind gestures. He urged other sets and well meaning individuals to emulate the gestures.
As at 4pm, Monday, 4th May, 2020, no new case of COVID-19 had been reported in the hospital. All entry points for care in the hospital continued to maintain vigilance with appropriate screening measures in place.
However, Oyo State recorded five new cases bringing the number of confirmed cases to 34 in the state.
The University College Hospital, Ibadan will continue to render excellent care and services to all our patients. The Hospital equally enjoins everyone to abide by the required infection prevention and control measures such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers & face masks. We will continue to update the public accordingly. Stay safe.
