“We are constantly looking inward to protect our frontline workers” -Prof. Otegbayo.
The Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo has declared that the hospital is constantly seeking for ways to protect its frontline workers.
He made this assertion on Tuesday, 18th August, 2020 when he unveiled the reusable UCH customized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) made by the hospital’s Tailoring Unit.
It will be recalled that in June 2020, some untailored PPE materials worth millions of Naira were donated to the Hospital by the University of Ibadan MBBS/BDS graduating set of 2000. These materials which have been tailored into reusable protective gowns, apron and shoe cover are to be deployed in the management of COVID-19 patients.
While unveiling the PPEs, Prof. Otegbayo enjoned all frontline workers in the hospital to make proper use of them.
According to him, just devising a means to live with the virus is not enough, he said “our frontline workers must demonstrate that they can maintain these gowns adequately. They must also be properly deployed in the management of COVID-19 patients in the Hospital.”
